HypnoSim / Music Stairs

Bouncing ball music videos from any melody

You have seen them: a ball drops onto a staircase and every step it lands on plays the next note of a song you know. The Music Stairs template lets you make these piano stairs videos in minutes, without a DAW or animation software.

Music Stairs simulation frame

A 15-second run with a random seed, simulated in your browser.

Pick a built-in melody (Ode to Joy, Twinkle Twinkle, Für Elise or Korobeiniki, the Tetris theme) or upload your own MIDI file. Every step hit plays the next note in order, and the video ends when the melody does: the whole staircase lights up and the song title appears.

How it works

  1. Each seed generates a zigzag staircase (6–14 steps) that the balls hop down.
  2. Every time a ball lands on a step, it triggers the next note of the melody. The note counter on screen keeps track, and after the last note the video wraps up with a short finale. The built-in melodies run about 20 to 35 seconds.
  3. The audio is synthesized and rendered directly into the MP4, so notes and bounces are always perfectly in sync.
  4. Upload a .mid file in the export panel to play your own song instead of the presets.

Music Stairs FAQ

How do I make a ball video where every bounce makes a sound?

Open the Music Stairs template, choose a melody or upload a MIDI file, roll a seed and export. Each bounce on a step plays the next note automatically.

Can I use my own song?

Yes. Upload a standard MIDI (.mid) file and its notes are played in sequence as the balls hit the steps. The video length follows the melody picked in the settings, so choose one with a similar number of notes to your file.

Does the music stay in sync with the bounces?

Yes. The sound is generated from the same simulation events that draw the video, so every note lands exactly on its bounce.
